ExperienceLawyer, Agricultural Lawyer, President of the State of Food Association
İlkan Türküresin
İlkan Türküresin is a lawyer and social entrepreneur working in the field of agricultural law. He completed his undergraduate education at Istanbul University Faculty of Law. He completed his master’s degree at Istanbul Bilgi University with a thesis titled “A New Organisation Model Proposal in Turkish Agricultural Law: Farmer Type Joint Stock Companies” at Istanbul Bilgi University.
In his thesis, he showed that cooperatives cannot be a suitable structure for Turkish agricultural organisation due to the small and fragmented structure of agricultural holdings, which is a structural problem in Turkish agriculture, and created the “Farmer Type Joint Stock Company” model specific to the Turkish agricultural structure by using the institutions and principles of joint stock companies.
In addition to his academic studies in the field of agricultural law, he has provided legal consultancy services to many companies, especially agricultural and food companies, as a lawyer.
He established the State of Food Association by bringing together lawyers working in the field of agricultural and food law in Turkey. He is currently the chairman of the board of directors of the association and works on the “right to food”.

In addition to working on the legal processes in the management of companies, he also works hard to develop projects and initiatives in different areas of agricultural law in line with his social sensitivities. After "Farmer Type Joint Stock Companies" and "State of Food", IPRA is one of these initiatives.
Breeder's Right Guide (“Islahçı Hakkı Rehberi”) is a carefully prepared Turkish-language resource designed to provide a comprehensive understanding of the protection of breeders' rights under Turkish law. In the field of plant breeding—an area with deep historical roots yet shaped by the advanced knowledge of modern agriculture—breeders must act as both creators and protectors. As they work to enhance the diversity offered by nature, breeders require legal knowledge to ensure their efforts are protected across social, environmental, and commercial dimensions.
This guide has been developed to meet that legal need and serve as a practical roadmap.
